• Employs ten permanent staff
• Draws on a team of 50 self-employed guides and 15 on-street sales staff
• Provides 12 tours daily in high season, 8 in low season
• Operates all year round except 24, 25, 26 December and Hogmanay evening
• Busiest season: Hallowe’en – 2,700 visitors over the Hallowe’en weekend in 2005!
• Biggest private booking: tours for 1040 delegates attending the World MUN conference in Edinburgh, all on one evening, 29 March 2005
• Largest event: Ghost Hunt Returns at Edinburgh Castle, Christmas 2003 with 1,200 visitors

Mercat Tours Ltd together with the Scottish Tourist Guides Association have been providing guiding services at the Scottish Parliament since 2004, introducing the people of Scotland and other visitors to how the Parliament, its Members and current business works, whilst touring the Holyrood building.
