The Mary King's Close Ghostfest is now it its sixth year and will run from Thursday 18th to Tuesday 22nd March 2010. This Festival is a six day celebration of all that is spooky - a unique opportunity to tune into your 'sensitive' side, and maybe even have a psychic experience!
Professor Richard Wiseman of the University of Hertfordshire argues that ghosts, and ghost stories, satisfy a basic human need for re-assurance -
Our programme of events for 2010 offers something for everyone and is guaranteed to keep the most avid of ghost hunters and sceptics alike entertained. We are offering Overnight Vigils in the Underground Vaults, of which Mercat Tours has exclusive use, and for those new to ‘ghosthunting’ a special Initiation into Investigation with Full Moon Investigations. For the first time, we are working with the National Trust for Scotland at Newhailes House, near Musselburgh, to tell tales of curses, witches and death. A journey on our Ghostboat will provide a ghost tour with a difference and an Evening of Clairvoyance in Megget's Cellar with Ada Donaldson may reveal 'evidence of survival'.
