Mercat Tours invites budding ghost hunters and emergent psychics alike to investigate the possible sources of strange noises, unpleasant smells and cold spots all experienced by visitors to the Vaults.

Mediums and paranormal researchers such as members of the Scottish Paranormal Team and Professor Richard Wiseman of Hertfordshire University have ventured below ground in search of the activities that have coloured the story of these mysterious Vaults. Each ascends with further testimony of extraordinary occurrences and their own explanations of what they have witnessed.

After your initial welcome, your guide provides a brief tour of the Vaults, highlighting areas which have stimulated most interest. For the major part of the experience you conduct your research in small groups, working with specialist recording equipment. You aims? – to observe, to record, to investigate.

Later in the night you come together as a whole group to discuss your findings, your feelings and sensations. Then, and only then, does your guide share with you full details of the paranormal experiences to which witnesses have testified. Together you reflect, comment – and surmise!
