Meet the Mercat Team - Fastidious Frances!8th Dec 2014
Meet Frances Mann
1. Where are you from?
A Leither by birth but now a Borders lass.
2. When did you join Mercat?
Way back in the mists of time, when dinosaurs ruled the earth and I was but a young chit of a first year history student, looking for a part time job.
3. Favourite part of Edinburgh?
Newhaven on a sunny but windy day. I’m descended from a family of fishwives so it must be in my blood!
4. Favourite thing to do in Edinburgh?
A day shopping at charity shops in Stockbridge or Portobello, buying books and then eating cake at a lovely little bakeshop or café.
5. Favourite Edinburgh story?
Ebenezer Scrooge was based on a real Edinburgh man called Ebenezer Scroggie. Charles Dickens saw his gravestone in the Canongate Graveyard during a visit to the city in 1842 and rather liked the name. But rather than being a miser, Scroggie was known for being a party animal and a lethario, infamous for goosing a Countess at the General Assembly! He died in 1836 - my guess is from exhaustion!
