Great British Summer Savings: Family Adventures for Less This Summer
19th Jun 2026Summer holidays are all about making memories. From weekend treats to big days out, it's often the little adventures that kids remember long after the season has passed.
That's why we're delighted to be taking part in the government's new Great British Summer Savings scheme, helping families enjoy more experiences together this summer.
From 25 June to 1 September 2026, we're passing on the savings through discounted tickets for Gory Stories: The Kids' Tour.
Designed for curious children aged 5+ and the adults accompanying them, Gory Stories brings Edinburgh's gruesome past to life with tales of terrible tortures, creepy characters and ghostly goings-on. Along the way, families will visit our exclusive Blair Street Underground Vaults, where immersive sounds, smells and stories create a memorable journey into the city's darker past.
And because family adventures should be shared, accompanying adults always pay the same price as a child's ticket.
At Mercat Tours, we believe stories are for everyone. Great days out should be affordable, and we're proud to support an initiative that helps make cultural experiences more accessible to families while supporting local businesses and the wider visitor economy.
Whether you're looking for things to do in Edinburgh during the school holidays, planning a weekend outing or simply searching for a unique experience the whole family can enjoy, Gory Stories offers plenty of gruesome fun and fascinating history.
So this summer, gather your bravest little explorers and join us beneath the city streets. After all, the best stories are the ones you experience together.
Gory Stories: The Kids' Tour runs throughout the summer holidays. Discounted tickets are available from 26 June through 1 September as part of the Great British Summer Savings scheme.
